Orange & Black Path

Orange & Black Path is a moderately trafficked trail that is located near Bar Harbor. This trail is a good wooded hike that goes up by where Peregrine Falcon's nest, because of this the trail is sometimes closed. The Orange & Black Path is connected to Precipice Trail, Orange & Black Path/ Chapman Trail, and Precipice Loop. The Orange & Black Path is rated an advanced difficulty.

Precipice Trailhead Parking off of Park Loop Road then walk down Precipice Trail till you reach Orange & Black Path.

This trail is closed yearly from March-August for peregrine falcon nesting season. For this reason, the team cannot provide a TrailView at this time. Please consult alternate resources if you intend to hike the Orange & Black Path.

Precipice Trail

Precipice Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located at Champlain Mountain near Bar Harbor. Precipice Trail features rugged no technical climbing with iron rungs with an open cliff face. The Precipice Trail connects to Orange & Black Path, Champlain North Ridge Trail, Beachcroft Path, Champlain South Ridge Trail, and Murphy Lane. This trail is not recommended for small children or people with a fear of heights. Precipice Trail is rated advanced.

Schooner Head Trail is a long trail that follows along schooner head road. This trail is moderately trafficked and good for all skill types. It is dog-friendly as well.

Champlain North Ridge Trail

Champlain North Ridge Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located near Bar Harbor. The trail takes you to a wooded forest then ascends up to Champlain Mountain. The Champlain North Ridge Trail connects to Orange & Black Path, Beachcroft Path, Precipice Trail, and Champlain South Ridge Trail. The Champlain North Ridge Trail is rated moderate difficulty.

Parking is at Champlain North Ridge Parking Area off of Park Loop Road.

Champlain South Ridge Trail

Champlain South Ridge Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located near Bar Harbor. The trail is a nice hike through a pine forest with granite featured that leads to the top of Champlain Mountain. Champlain South Ridge Trail connects to all of the summit trails of Champlain Mountain and connects to the Beehive trail. The Champlain South Ridge Trail is rated a moderate difficulty.

Parking is at the Beehive Trailhead Parking Area, then have to hike the lower part of the Beehive trail.

Beachcroft Path

Beachcroft Path is a moderately trafficked out and back trail that is located near Bar Harbor. The trail starts in the woods and leads to stone steps with a good view of the valley. At the summit of Champlain Mountain, there are great views of the park below. The Beachcroft Path connects to Jesup path, Kurt Diederich's Climb, Kane Path, Champlain North Ridge Trail, and Champlain South Ridge Trail.
