Lodging

Bar Harbor Inn.Mount Desert Island, home to Acadia National Park, has a variety of lodging options for your time at the park. Whether you prefer camping, cottages, vacation rentals, inns, bed and breakfasts, or hotels, there is an option for everyone.

One thing to consider when deciding where to stay is transportation. Many of the lodging options near the Bar Harbor area have Island Explorer stops. This lets you easily get around the park via the Island Explorer (a free bus service) without having to worry about driving or parking. For example, the Eden Street bus stops at the Edenbrook Motel, Acadia Inn, and 6 other lodging options.

Another thing to consider when finding a place to stay is making sure to book ahead. Summer time is very busy in Acadia and 4th of July weekend, specifically, can get quite crowded. Make sure to leave yourself ample time so that there are still available rooms for when you plan to visit. Winter, on the other hand, presents the opposite challenge. Many people leave Acadia and not many places are open for lodging purposes. A handful of options are open year-round, so keep an eye out for those.
