Jordan Cliffs Trail

Jordan Cliff Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located by Jordan Pond near Seal Harbor. The trail is a challenging steep hike up the east side of Penobscot Mountain. It is a bit rocky and heavily rooted through the forest before ascending above the treeline. Jordan Cliff Trail connects to Amphitheatre Trail, Spring Trail, Penobscot East Trail, and Deer Brook Trail. The Jordan Cliff Trail is rated an advanced difficulty.

Parking is at Jordan Pond Path then walk down spring trail till you reach Jordan Cliff Trail.

This trail is closed yearly from March-August for peregrine falcon nesting season. For this reason, the team cannot provide an updated TrailView at this time. Please consult alternate resources if you intend to hike the Jordan Cliffs Trail.

Kurt Diederich’s Climb

Kurt Diederich’s Climb is a moderately hiked trail that is located near Bar Harbor. Kurt Diederich’s Climb is a path up to the peak of Dorr Mountain, it goes up rock steps. It is regarded as the hardest way up Dorr Mountain. Kur Diederich’s Climb connects Schiff Path, Kane Path, and Beachcroft Path. Kurt Diederich’s Climb is rated as advanced difficulty. 

Parking is at Beachcroft Path Parking Area, then hike to the intersection of Kurt Diederich’s Climb and Kane Path.

Mansell Mountain Trail

Mansell Mountain Trail is a moderately hiked trail that is located near Southwest Harbor. The trail is an intense hike up a steep trail with many roots. At the end of the trail, you get a great view of Southwest Harbor. The Mansell Mountain Trail connects to Cold Brook Trail, Gilley Trail, Mansell-Razorback Connector, and Perpendicular Trail. The Mansell Mountain Trail is rated an advanced difficulty.

Orange & Black Path

Orange & Black Path is a moderately trafficked trail that is located near Bar Harbor. This trail is a good wooded hike that goes up by where Peregrine Falcon's nest, because of this the trail is sometimes closed. The Orange & Black Path is connected to Precipice Trail, Orange & Black Path/ Chapman Trail, and Precipice Loop. The Orange & Black Path is rated an advanced difficulty.

Precipice Trailhead Parking off of Park Loop Road then walk down Precipice Trail till you reach Orange & Black Path.

Pemetic East Cliff Trail

Pemetic East Cliff Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located near Seal Harbor. The Pemetic East Cliff Trail is a connector trail that connects Pemetic South Ridge Trail to the Bubbles and Jordan Pond Path. The Pemetic East Cliff Trail is rated an advanced difficulty.

Parking is at the Bubble Drive Parking area, then hikers have to go down Pemetic Northwest Trail to the Peak of Pemetic Mountain and down the Pemetic South Ridge Trail.

Pemetic South Ridge Trail

The trail is the most gradual climb up to Pemetic Mountain that goes through a pike forest up to the rocky ridge of the mountain. Pemetic South Ridge Trail connects to Bubbles & Jordan Pond path, Pemetic Northwest Trail, and Pemetic North Ridge Trail. The Pemetic South Ridge Trail is rated a moderate difficulty.

Parking at Jordan Pond Path Parking Area then hike down Bubbles & Jordan Pond path until you reach the trailhead of Pemetic South Ridge Trail.

Pemetic North Ridge Trail

The trail starts in a large pine forest and climbs up to the peak of Pemetic Mountain that gives you a great 360-degree view of the park. Pemetic North West Trail

Pemetic Northwest Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located by Jordan Pond near Bar Harbor. The trail is a steep rocky wooded climb up to Pemetic Mountain. Once at the top the peak of Pemetic Mountain gives a great view of the park and Jordan Pond. The Pemetic Northwest Trail connects to the Bubble Divide Trail and Pemetic North Ridge Trail. The Pemetic Northwest Trail is rated an advanced difficulty.

Perpendicular Trail

The Perpendicular Trail is a moderately trafficked trail that is located next to Long Pond near Southwest Harbor. This trail features a steep hike up to the summit of Mansell Mountain. The Perpendicular Trail connects to Long Pond Trail and Mansell Mountain Trail. The Perpendicular Trail is rated as advanced since there are parts that you have to climb up with metal rungs.

Penobscot Mountain Trail

When approaching the summit, the trail gets rocky, and you get a great view of the sea and the park.
